Cold Weekend
To wrap up a busy and stressful week of classes 9AM-5PM, I decided to hit a powwow to regroup and recharge so that I can take on this final busy and crazy week!Friday night was cold! Luckily the powwow was under a tent but it was still cold. I am glad I brought my pendleton jacket and gloves that I normally wear in the winter. We danced one song that night and I couldn't even feel my legs! I kept my two "A" nieces overnight as the others had to get back home to attend and help out at some graduations the next day. My man went and tore up the poker table all night and came back with some winnings. Saturday morning I took my nieces to the waterpark and did some of my readings for class. Then we had to get ready for the powwow.
It was gray, cold, and raining Saturday at the powwow. Oh yeah and muddy too. The lil one had on her pink rubber kitty cat boots and wanted to splash around in every puddle she could. When I told her not to do that she gave me a puzzled look, pointed to her boots and said "Well I have these on!" And I told her that it didn't matter because she could still get her pants and jacket soaking wet. Then she asked me for some money to go and get some candy, and told me she knew where it was. So I gave her a dollar and she came back with candy and the thighs of her camouflage pants soaking wet! But I had backup pants to change her into so it wasn't a big deal.
After my category was excused and my other niece competed I took them to the nearby town and we ate at McD's. Then we went back to the room for a few hours to dry out and get warm again.
Saturday night was as cold as Friday night and hanging out in the car was cold so I ran the heat for a bit to stay thawed out. We got 2 songs and it didn't seem to bad to dance but afterwards my legs stiffened up.
Yesterday turned out to be a nice, sunny day. It was still on the cool side but at least the sun came out. Again, we danced two songs and I wasn't feeling them. I don't know if it was the cold or if it was from not working out regularly within the past week but I didn't feel I danced well out there. My man's grandma said I did and a few others so I didn't worry too much about it. Then my friend showed me the video footage he shot of our category and I didn't look like the heavy footed fatty haha I was actually keeping up and staying smooth. But I wasn't worrying or stressing over placing, I was there for the dancing and I already knew I wasn't going to place after seeing who showed up after Friday night's grand entry. I could probably make some good money doing a contest powwow underworld gambling ring. Complete with taking and placing bets starting after the first grand entry and seeing who's all there, then predicting the winners and order.
Anyways I had a fun time this past weekend despite the frigid temps, and I destressed and regrouped. Oh yeah and I'm happy to report that not a muscle is sore today so now I'm bound and determined to hit the gym hard and get back into it! I need to banish the junk food too.
