Tired
So much for it getting over early. We didn't leave (it didn't get over with) until around 1 AM! Then we had to hit the road for the 3.5 hr drive. We got home around 5 AM and had a few hours to sleep before we had to get up again for work. So here we are and tired but we have a small class size today so that should ease things up a bit.Canada was nice. I wish we could've stayed another night. We took some awesome pics yesterday of the area. It was sunny and breezy, the lake and islands were beautiful. It was also nice to see the fam :) Haven't seen them since the wedding.
The powwow turned out to be an enjoyable one, on Sat. it rained but Sunday was the perfect weather. My ankle felt back to normal so I danced on Sunday. It didn't hurt either. They had an oldstyle jingle special/contest and I took part in it. Then a suprise came as they announced the winners. I didn't really think I'd get in there since there were so many good older women from around that area, and they had a three way tie breaker that happened as well. As the results were being announced, I found out that the tie was for third place. Then they announced second place and after that, I thought I knew who'd take it. "Not me" I thought as I glanced over to the dancer I thought would take it as I recalled that she placed in the same special last year. But they called out my number and my name for first! I was shocked and happy at the same time.
It was an honor for me to even place in that special, let alone win it, since there is a rich history of the dress and dance in that community. Here's a few links to check out about the dress:
