snow snow really blows
Damn that groundhog! hahaI heard he saw his shadow and so today we awoke to new fallen snow. Shortly after my husband left for work and after I told him to be very careful on the roads, I woke up and did a little homework. A little before 9 AM I got a phone call and caller ID showed one of my instructors' name and so I answered. She told me that she was canceling class for today and she wanted to let me know before I ventured out for the trek/drive. I told her I was just about to head out and thanked her for calling me.
With the car warming up and running, I decided to head to Walmart. Anyone who knows me well enough, knows that I normally sleep in but since I was awake and ready to go somewhere I decided not to waste the morning :) I bought a new scratching post for Gaazh and some treats. Then I bought some claw clippers and one of these days when I get brave enough I'll attempt to clip her sharp claws. I also bought something to throw in the slow cooker for supper.
When I got home I drank my coffee and surfed the net for a bit. Then I vacuumed, straightened up the place and got it nice and cozy. Before I left for the afternoon, I fired up the slow cooker and put supper in there. Then I put a nice lovey dovey card addressed to my husband by the slow cooker as a special, loving touch :) (Love you muh bebe)
After that I hit the road. Earlier this evening, I joked to my lil sis that my driving nuts were cut off at the end of November when I hit the ditch and now I drive extra cautiously especially when there's new snow. Anyways, the roads were ok on the way in to class they could've been better but I kept on. I got to town early and went to the fitness center where I was greeted with a brand spankin new work out program :) (Thanks sis) I lifted weights for about twenty minutes and did lunges (I'll have a sore ass tomorrow) before I had to leave for class.
During class I was tired and Mondays are when we have a longer class than usual, and in the back of my mind I was hoping that the roads weren't too disastrous.
After class I climbed back into the cursed car because the Whirlwind Dreamer war pony (hehe for the P-wow Highway movie fans) is with my husband this week (we figured we'd alternate cars each week :)
It was snowing! The roads were covered and I was not going to take any chances and so I played it safe and slow. When I got to the town where the highway starts I got stuck behind a snow plow thing that was crapping out sand and I could see some ice glare on the road before me. So I stayed behind the plow for three towns until I got the courage to pass it up just before I hit the hometown. It took me forever to get home and I was gripping the steering wheel and hoping for a safe return home. I got passed up by a number of cars while thinking "They're crazy!" but I'd rather be safe than sorry :)
Hopefully one of these days my driving confidence will be restored, until then I am praying for a quick spring to arrive...then I'll have to watch for the "waawaadeedees" as Aazh used to say (I think she also said "doowaadeedees" too for waawaashkeshi aka deer in Ojibwe)
